2008 Boatercross Results

The 2008 Boatercross was held in O-Deck.  Instead of the preliminary heats advertised in the event description, the competitors voted for a mass start race.  They lined up against the Flake, waited for the starting judge to shout "Go!" and then careened through the rapid.  There were two buoys to negotiate: one in the big river left eddy and one at the bottom of Fisherman's Eddy.  After rou

The 2008 Community Gorge Paddle was a great success, with several participants saying it was the best ever.  After handing out the awards, we paddled through S-Turn, Rocky Island, and Wet Bottom as a group.  In the flatwater below Wet Bottom we performed many "stupid human tricks" including standng up in our boats, lining up for a kayak boom run, fitting five people onto a Pirouette S, and h

Potomac Whitewater Festival Bib Hunt

Great Falls Race Participants Who Did Not Return Bibs: Please do so, for losing track of them creates a time-consuming chore that diminishes sponsor and volunteer enthusiasm immeasurably. Last year we emailed padders, called, paddlers, called mothers of paddlers and otherwise chased bibs until October first and we'd like to improve our effectiveness this year.

Pictures of Potomacfest 2008

If you have good pictures of this weekend, upload them to your usual favorite place and add a comment on this post with a direct link, preferably with a short description of the events covered. That way you have full control over your pics and everybody can easily find them.

Here are the tables showing the points each competitor scored, and their final place within their class. Each competitor took 3 rides. Their lowest-scoring ride was dropped, and their final score is the combination of the other two rides.

Full results from the Great Falls Race

Here are the tables of the full Great Falls Race times and placings.

No Freestyle finals on Sunday morning

Due to the small class sizes in the freestyle this year, there is no need for the freestyle finals on Sunday morning. If you signed up to help run Sunday finals, go ahead and sleep in...or even better, go boating for fun.

Camping on the Potomac - Still available!

We have reserved a group camping area at the #1 at the Marsden Tract Campground. If anyone else would like to camp there, grab a spare spot and bring $5 per night to late registration Saturday morning at Old Angler's Inn (back patio). At this point we must ask you for the fee on a honor system basis!

Can't Find an Event Location?

With clinics and seven on-water events taking place this weekend it might be tough to find yours! Event locations should be listed along wiht the event description. If it is not and you're not sure where to show up for your competitor or participant meeting, ask at Check-in Saturday at the Great Falls tavern green at C&O Canal NHP (Great Falls, Maryland) and Sunday at the Great Falls, Virginia National Park lower lot. We will be there. Look for the American Whitewater Tent!
