Welcome to the 2008 Potomac Fest Great Falls Race
Tom McEwan and the staff and students of Liquid Adventures Kayak School will again organize the race. Last year was a very exciting race with Aaron Mann running a very smooth race to win. This year should prove to be just as exciting. We are planning a couple of adjustments to the usual format of the race in order to improve the event.
**Racers this year will run in order of bib # within their class, this is to help shorten the interval between racers. The next 3 racers should be on deck and ready to paddle.
**Classes will run in the following order, long boat, c-1, women’s, and then short boat.
As always the actual course will be finalized the day of the event and will be determined by water level. However, we should have a decent idea on the likely course on Wednesday or Thursday before the race.
Pre-register for the event. All racers will need to check in at registration before proceeding up to Great Falls on the MD side for the competitors meeting. You must be at the competitors meeting, with a bib, and registered in order to race. Attempts at last minute registration hold up the event unnecessarily, postpone the start time, and makes results harder to tabulate. It is also rather inconsiderate to the race organizers, Potomac Fest coordinators, and the rest of the racers. Please make every attempt to pre-register, it saves everyone time and frustration and you $$.
We look forward to seeing you all, thank you for coming out to race to support American Whitewater.
