PADDLING CLINICS Details
Paddling Clinics give paddlers an opportunity to try out the latest boats and gear provided by sponsors. Clinics include:
- Liquid Adventures: Beginner Clinic - 10 people
- 5 - 7 pm
Liquid Adventures will take you through the basics of whitewater kayaking.
Skills we cover will include wet exits, boat outfitting, directional
control, basic river moves, and strokes. This course will give you an
appreciation and a great understanding whitewater kayaking. The course is 2
hrs long and is our gift to AW and The Potomac Fest. Essential kayak gear
is included
- Liquid Adventures: Mechanical advantage and boat unpinning made simple
- 6 - 8 pm
This clinic will cover the basics of mechanical advantage and boat
unpinning. We will discuss and experience the pros and cons of the
2:1 and z-drag systems, cover the equipment needed, learn when and
how to set up MA, and provide you a series of steps to lead you to
boat unpinning greatness. If time permits we will hit the water and
set something up. To be honest, I have rarely used MA in many years
of paddling and guiding, but as the saying goes, I would rather have
the knowledge and not need it, than to need it and not have it. This course will be led by Nathan Nahikian, instructor for Liquid Adventures and safety coordinator for The Great Falls Race.

Our social club is a weeknight, informal paddling session where we meet up after work to paddle as a group to practice all our skills and just have fun together on the river. The sessions are two hours in length and take place across from the Old Anglers Inn. It’s a great time, on and off the water, and you get to know your fellow paddlers better in the process- come join us and be social!
